After betrayal, your mind may be searching for answers while your body is still responding as though something dangerous has happened. You may move between panic, anger, numbness, checking, confusion, and moments when you cannot think clearly at all. Stillness Amidst the Storm is designed for this acute phase. Rather than asking you to make major decisions before you are ready, it helps you understand your nervous system, stabilize intense reactions, and build practical ways to return to yourself when everything feels uncertain.

What Is This Workbook?

Stillness Amidst the Storm is the first volume of The Storm Series · For Her, created for women in the acute aftermath of betrayal. This is the stage when information may still feel overwhelming, emotions can shift rapidly, and questions about the relationship may feel impossible to answer with clarity.

Across 26 modules and four phases, the workbook focuses first on stabilization, nervous-system awareness, emotional regulation, and understanding your response to betrayal before asking you to determine what comes next.

Your Reactions Are Information

After betrayal, reactions that seem excessive or unfamiliar can make you question yourself. Your body may become hyperalert. Your attention may narrow toward danger. You may search for information repeatedly, feel unable to settle, become intensely emotional, or suddenly feel very little.

This workbook helps you understand these responses within the context of betrayal trauma and nervous-system activation rather than treating them as personal weakness. The work emphasizes somatic regulation and DBT-informed skills for navigating the crisis more deliberately.

How Does the Workbook Work?

Each module combines clinically informed psychoeducation with structured reflection and practical regulation work. You will explore what happens in your body during activation, recognize emotional and behavioral responses, work with tools such as nervous-system regulation and Wise Mind, and begin distinguishing what requires attention now from what can wait.

The purpose is not to make the pain disappear. It is to create enough steadiness that you can hear yourself again.

What Does the Process Look Like?

26 modules · 4 phases

The work moves gradually from recognizing and stabilizing acute responses, through regulation and understanding, toward reconnecting with yourself. You do not need to solve the marriage in the acute phase. Volume I gives you a place to work with what is happening now, so future decisions do not have to be made entirely from inside the storm.

Look Inside

This is not a workbook designed to rush you toward acceptance, forgiveness, or a decision about your relationship. Inside, you will find psychoeducation, body-based awareness, emotional regulation work, guided reflection, and practical exercises designed for the acute phase. The sample pages offer a closer look at how the workbook helps you slow down, understand your reactions, and begin finding steadier ground.

Educational material for personal reflection or use alongside therapy. It does not replace individualized clinical care.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Reader, married 25 years –

After 25 years of marriage, I discovered that my husband had been living a secret life. I felt used, humiliated, and as if everything I believed about my marriage had suddenly become a lie. I did not know what was normal anymore—not my anger, the questions that would not stop, or how quickly my emotions could change. The Storm workbook helped me understand what I was going through without telling me how I was supposed to feel or what decision I should make. More than anything, the pages made me feel less alone during a time when I felt completely lost.

Storm Series reader (shared anonymously) –

I bought this workbook because I was exhausted from trying to figure out whether I was healing ‘the right way.’ Some days I wanted my marriage, and other days I wanted nothing to do with it. I kept thinking I should be further along. This book gave me permission to slow down and actually understand what was happening inside me. The exercises were direct without being overwhelming, and I often found myself writing things I had not been able to say out loud. It did not push me toward staying or leaving. It helped me hear myself again.
